Hyundai L&C Canada is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical business conduct and social responsibility throughout our supply chain. We believe that our suppliers play a crucial role in maintaining these standards. This Supplier Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and requirements for all suppliers and their subcontractors who provide goods or services to Hyundai L&C Canada.
- Compliance with Laws, Rules, and Regulations: Suppliers must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards in the jurisdictions where they operate, including but not limited to Canadian laws and international laws related to labour, human rights, health, safety, and the environment.
- No Forced or Child Labour: Suppliers shall not engage in or support the use of forced labour or child labour in any form. Workers must be of legal working age according to applicable laws and international standards and must not be subjected to any form of involuntary or exploitative labour.
- No Harassment, Abuse, or Discrimination: Suppliers must provide a work environment free from harassment, abuse, and discrimination. All workers shall be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected grounds.
- Health and Safety: Suppliers must provide a safe and healthy work environment for all workers, in compliance with applicable health and safety laws and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, providing adequate training, protective equipment, and measures to prevent accidents and occupational illnesses.
- Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining: Suppliers shall respect the rights of workers to freely associate, organize, and bargain collectively in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Wages and Benefits: Suppliers shall provide workers with wages, benefits, and compensation that meet or exceed the minimum legal requirements.
- Hours of Work and Overtime Compensation: Suppliers shall comply with applicable laws and regulations regarding working hours, breaks, and overtime compensation. Workers shall not be required to work excessive hours, and overtime must comply with applicable laws and compensated fairly.
- Ethical Standards: Suppliers must conduct their business with integrity and honesty, and shall not engage in bribery, corruption, or any other unethical practices.
- Environmental Impact: Suppliers shall comply with environmental laws and regulations and strive to minimize their environmental impact and operate in an environmentally responsible manner, including but not limited to reducing waste, and conserving resources.
Monitoring and Compliance
To ensure compliance, Hyundai L&C has the right to monitor suppliers through audits by third parties and/or by Hyundai L&C Associates. Hyundai L&C will strive to work with the supplier that is not in full compliance to develop and implement an appropriate corrective action plan. Hyundai L&C may elect to end its relationship with a supplier at any time for failing to adhere to the Supplier Code of Conduct.
